Together with another pastor, Matthew DelValle, Arlington Baptist Church has developed a proposal for a new hymnal intended to serve like-minded churches. The project is called Songs of the Church: Psalms & Hymns for Worship. It grew out of a simple and recurring need: many of our churches are piecing together congregational singing from multiple sources — an existing hymnal, printed inserts, and other materials. Our hope is to provide a hymnal that includes:

  • All 150 Psalms in singable form, and
  • Carefully chosen historic and modern hymns (~500).

Goal

Your support for this project would bless not only the worship of Christ at Arlington Baptist but also the worship and discipleship of many other churches for years to come. Our initial fundraising goal is $41,000:

  • Creation of the hymnal (typesetting/editing/layout): ~$31,000
  • Copyright consultation (to help navigate licensing wisely): ~$3,000
  • Creation of an accompaniment edition (a musician-friendly spiral edition with chord symbols): ~$7,000

One simple way to think about reaching that goal is:

  • 1,000 people or churches give $41, or
  • 410 people or churches give $100, or
  • 100 people or churches give $410, or
  • 41 people or churches give $1,000.

That would fully fund this initial phase of the project, then once the engraving of the hymnal is funded, each church will be able to purchase the number of copies it needs.
