The Good News is This Good

I’ve been sitting in lectures on the Christian life over the last couple of days, and we’ve basically been circling around one theme that ought to have a profound impact on every area of our lives as Christians. That one theme can really be summed up or presented in a couple of Scripture passages:

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).
When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, "It is finished," and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit (John 19:30).

I’m sure that you’ve heard these truths before, but I’m sure that you need to hear them again.

As Christians we struggle to believe that God’s grace is this amazing. We struggle to believe that we are not condemned because Satan comes and speaks lies to our consciences and condemns us. We struggle to believe that we don’t need to do anything to be saved, because we trust too much in ourselves. But the Good News is this good: there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because he has finished and consummated the work that the Father gave him to do in redeeming his people. Fight for faith each day. You’re not condemned because it is finished.
