Quarterly Evening Communion Services

It is a new year and sometimes new things happen in a new year. Lord willing, at least one new thing will happen this year at our church. This new thing isn’t really all that new; in fact, it’s really quite old. I’ll explain what I mean by that in just a minute. So what is this old thing that we’ll be doing anew in the new year? Well, once a quarter in 2015 our congregation will hold an evening service. Presently, the elders have planned for our congregation to hold an evening communion service on the first Sunday of the months of February, May, August, and November. We plan for the services to run from 5-6pm. In those services, we’ll pray, sing, hear a short sermon, and celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.

As I said, this “new thing” isn’t really that new. Arlington Baptist Church, certainly had evening services in the past, and for centuries Christians saw the wisdom of gathering together twice on the Lord’s Day to worship of the risen and reigning Christ. The additional fellowship and study of God's word are no doubt good and edifying for the soul. I look forward to the time and I hope that you do too.
