Confession of Faith: Article 4 – Of the Way of Salvation (Insert)

We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace (Eph. 2:5Matt. 18:111 John 4:101 Cor. 3:5-7Acts 15:11),  through the mediatorial offices of the Son of God (John 3:161:1-14Heb. 4:1412:24);  who by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon him our nature, yet without sin (Phil. 2:6-7Heb. 2:9142 Cor. 5:21);  honored the divine law by his personal obedience (Isa. 42:21Phil. 2:8Gal. 4:4-5Rom. 3:21),  and by his death made a full atonement for our sins (Isa. 53:4-5Matt. 20:28Rom. 4:253:21-261 John 4:102:21 Cor. 15:1-3Heb. 9:13-15);  that having risen from the dead, he is now enthroned in heaven (Heb. 1:838:1Col. 3:1-4);  and uniting in his wonderful person the tenderest sympathies with divine perfections, he is every way qualified to be a suitable, a compassionate, and an all-sufficient Savior (Heb. 7:25Col. 2:9Heb. 2:187:26Psa. 89:19Psa. 14:1-7).

Confess Your Sin through Prayer: Offer a prayer of confession for anything the Lord has brought to mind in your reading of the Confession of Faith.

Scriptural Assurance of Pardon (for those who repent and believe): Read Ephesians 2:4-5.

Respond in Song: Jesus! What a Friend for Sinners (185)

Give Thanks and Pray for Understanding of God’s Word: Offer a brief prayer of thanksgiving for what God has done in Jesus Christ. Also ask God, through his Holy Spirit to give you a mind, heart, and will to hear, understand, believe, and obey his Word.

Read and Reflect on God’s Word: John 11:45-57

  • Watch/listen to my reflections on the passage
  • Discuss the devotion:
  • What were the points of the devotion?
  • Where from the text was the gospel preached?
  • How would you share the gospel with an unbeliever from the biblical text?
  • What applications were made in the devotion?
  • What application do you need to make in your life from the devotion?
  • What applications were made to the church from the devotion?
  • How does this devotion encourage us to trust, pray, and obey God?

Respond in Song: We Will Glorify (213)

Close in Prayer: Offer a brief prayer thanking God for what you have learned about him, salvation through Jesus, and how you ought to follow in faith.

Receive God’s Benediction: Read Jude 1-2.

Reflect: Take some time and reflect on what God has taught you in this time.

These are some of the things that you can do to spend the coming Lord’s Day well. If you’re a part of the church’s Facebook Group, then maybe you could share an edifying reflection from your time of worship.
